CRYSTAL CATHEDRAL ADVENTURES

We live on such a small globe today and travel such far distances, yet we live and move and have our being, separated by vast ages. This man in Tanzania, Africa, travels to his market by ox cart and we have traveled by Jumbo 747, to take his picture.

Our team worked for 12 days, with Pastor William Makali and Full Dimension
Ministry of Christ. His ministry touches rural communities and their people . The ministry provides village medical clinics, pre-schools and training schools for local people to become Pastors. Orphanages are provided for, by the ministry.

The Crystal Cathedral team, making bricks out of sand and mud, 'hand in hand' or perhaps 'passing' hand to hand, with the orphan children of a local orphanage.

We are in another wonderful season of prayer here at the Crystal Cathedral. Prayers are given, prayers are heard, and prayers are answered.

If you are ready to make the most important decision of your life, to accept Christ as your loving Savior, please pray the following:

Jesus, thank you for your love. Lord, I ask you to forgive anything I have done that was not pleasing to you. By faith, I receive all the forgiveness I need. I will trust, by faith from this day forward, that you will never leave me. Amen

We are delighted that you have made a decision to follow Jesus. When He called His disciples, so very long ago, He simply said, "Follow me..." Now you, too, have heard His voice saying, "Follow me..." And we rejoice with you.

God will always honor His Word, the Bible. You can believe what it says as you begin your journey of faith:

"I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." - Philippians 4:13

Just a Little Bit of Housekeeping...

The crane pictured above seems to float in the air as it is held up off its wheels by its giant hydraulic arms. Now why would an enormous crane be parked on the plaza at the Crystal Cathedral? Well, to wash the windows of course! We thought it would be fun to give you all a "behind the scenes" look at one of the more interesting things that go on here at the Cathedral.

The entire window cleaning process takes two whole weeks, and it is quite a big undertaking. There are over 10,000 windows on the Cathedral, and they are all held in place by a special sealant. This sealant loses its strength over time due to sunlight, and believe it or not, birds picking at it. The window cleaners ride the crane up and check this sealant by attaching suction cups and pulling on the glass. They do this, one at a time, on every single individual pane of glass!

After that is all done, they ride up and wash all of the windows using a special soap mixture. It is quite a sight to see these men dangling in their little basket high up in the air with a high pressure water hose shooting down full blast on the glass!

The Window cleaning process is quite a treat to behold as it only happens once every year. I hope you have enjoyed reading about it as much as we enjoyed sharing it with you.

Jacaranda Trees

There is nothing more beautiful than looking out, from the upper stories of the Crystal Cathedral buildings and seeing a blue-purple sea of color, as the Jacaranda trees come into bloom. It seems that in California, we have the perfect climate for the expression of their beauty. Since they are known worldwide, from California and Florida, to Mexico, to Zimbabwe, to Australia, we as Hour of Power viewers have earth’s beauty in common wherever we may live.

Oh, clap your hands, all you peoples!

One of the most beautiful scenes in springtime, at the Crystal Cathedral, is a row of Azalea trees that line the path along the Arboretum. Somehow, they always speak to me of freshness and new beginnings.

It always makes me grateful, that our God is a God of new beginnings on a daily basis. Every day is a new day for us to approach with new freshness and new zeal. “Old things are passed away, and all things have become new…” the Bible.

Our old seasons of failures have passed away. The old seasons of regrets have passed away. Old seasons of dryness are gone. It’s a new day, it’s a brand new day and I’m waking up to Jesus.

May your future be brighter than you highest expectations.

Global visitors at the Crystal Cathedral are not all humans. We always have the annual springtime visit from our duck friends. They march around campus, making friends with our two legged guests and build community for themselves on our beautiful lawns and in the water ponds.
These two seem to be taking time to enjoy the ‘Walk of Faith’ in the background. I always wonder what kind of faith it takes for a duck to leave their nesting homes and later to start out from faraway places to return to the ponds of their birth. Oh, that we should be more like them in our ‘walk of faith’, as we trust our loving heavenly Father to guide us homeward, heaven bound, one day, one step at a time.

And so, as sunset comes to the Crystal Cathedral this Sunday evening, I would ask the LORD for you that your faith be strong to follow the Father wherever He may lead you this week and that your walk be as peaceful as the walk of our two friends, the ducks.

On Sunday last, I watched a visitor take a close-up picture of a beautiful Easter lily, one of many decorating the Crystal Cathedral campus for this Easter season. We took one for you to enjoy today, in real time.

I noticed in the background, the statute of the prodigal son and was touched with this thought: Many people will come to and or return to the Father’s love this weekend as we hear again the message of Easter and the resurrection story. What a complimentary place for an Easter lily.

Hold this thought of hope as we participate in Holy Week: In a dark Friday world, Sundays coming!

It is Sunday sunset at the Crystal Cathedral. I have been praying for our Global Community this afternoon and thought that it might be well if I communicated my prayers to you via our Global Community blog site. Also, you will find at the end a ‘comment’ choice and I want you to know that I would love to hear from you.

LORD,
As I correspond with so many of our Global Community, it is my privilege to share their concerns about life, their joy of living and their praise of your greatness. Wherever our journey of faith takes us, allow us to feel the bond of your love and the embrace of those of like precious faith.

If there is one that needs a healing, heal them at the point of their need. If there is one that needs a job or finances or provision, meet those needs for creature comforts. If one is discouraged, depressed, or cast-down, be their encourager and grant to them your peace. I ask in the mighty name of Jesus.

MISSION TO AFRICA

Joanna Kelley, long time Crystal Cathedral church and staff member, recently said ‘yes’ when she sensed God calling her to Africa.

During her six month stay in Kenya, from April to October of 2007; she met with several Hour of Power viewers, ministered to those infected and affected by HIV/AIDS, helped launch a students’ ministry, and was engaged in various community outreach projects.

She is here in the US working with Pastor Beverely Muffin and the Global Community as she prepares to lead a team of missionaries on a short term mission trip to Tanzania. From there she plans to return to Kenya as a career missionary.

New York and Back!

Our team taking to the streets of New York

Such a very small ‘Globe’ and such a very large ‘Global Community’. A team of eight Crystal Cathedral staff and congregants have been to New York and met Hour of Power viewers, for a time of sharing and fellowship.

Enjoying our time in New York with our Global Members

First stop, Saint Patrick’s Cathedral, downtown New York, a first for some California natives. ‘Stories’ were the order of the day over lunch. It seems to me, that no matter where you go, all people have a story to tell of interesting lives and adventures.

On to, Saint John’s the Divine for an evening supper, meeting new people, with only ‘different’ stories. How precious the fellowship of other pilgrims on their life’s journey of faith.

We fell in love with the ‘people’ of New York; so friendly, so helpful, so kind. We learned much about the character of New Yorkers, by trying our adventure on the ‘subway’ and buses. Without their help, we might still be ‘underground’ lost. Wherever we turned, someone was willing to help us. If you are a New Yorker reading, “Thanks” from your cousins in California.

Walking in your own Shoes "Shoe Drive"

We are still collecting shoes for children around the world that are in need of shoes. We are inspired by Pastor Robert A. Schuller’s book: “Walking In Your Own Shoes”.

If you have one set of clothes to wear and one meal a day, you are in the top 3% of the world’s population.
Children all over the world do not attend school, because they do not have shoes.
Some children shuffle around in their parents shoes all day, just to be in school.

"Walking in your Own Shoes" Shoe Drive

Our most current and exciting partnership is with Samaritans Purse/Franklin Graham, “Shoes For Kids”. In conjunction with Pastor Robert A. Schuller’s new book: “Walking In Your Own Shoes”, we are collecting children’s shoes, to be sent around the world to children that do not have shoes. To put that in some prospective: If you own one set of clothes and eat one meal a day, you are in the top 3% of the people of the world. Also, did you know: Children around the world, many times cannot go to school, because they do not own shoes. Some children shuffle around in their parents shoes at school, just to be able to attend school.

This project will continue until Thanksgiving Day. If you would like to share in the blessing of children, you may bring children’s shoes to the Crystal Cathedral campus, any day of the week, until Thanksgiving and we will put them on our truck, going to Samaritans Purse. If you would rather ‘make a difference’ by making a donation, we will take care of shoes being purchased. Send your donation to Crystal Cathedral, clearly marked “Shoes For Kids” and we will purchase shoes on your behalf.

Do you need prayer?
Do you need to feel someone cares?
Do you need someone to pray with and for you?

Sometimes it is difficult for all of us to let other people know that we have a need or that we are hurting. On the other hand, the Bible is very clear. Hear the great Apostle Paul as he speaks: Bear one another’s burdens and fulfill the law of Christ. Galatians 6:22 The law of Christ is the law of love. Christ would use each of us to love someone on His behalf. Often it is easier to be used to love someone on Christ’s behalf, than it is to allow someone to love us, on Christ’s behalf. Our ‘Prayer Community’ is a wonderful and safe place to pray and be prayed for.

Open your mind and heart, care and be cared for, pray today. Prayer is the key that unlocks the law of Christ’s love and opens the windows of blessing that Christ has for us.

Habitat for Humanity is one our dear friends and ‘partners’. We have worked with them across the United States and the Dominican Republic. Many future trips are being scheduled. If you are like the great apostle Paul and have a skill for ‘making tents’ or in modern language ‘building’, put your heart and hammer together and join us. You may also find opportunities in or near your hometown and in your local community.

We have a Missions Team just back for Tecate, Mexico. They spent several days working in an orphanage for boys; cooking, building, fellowshipping saying: "God loves you and so do we!"

Welcome to our Global Community Homepage

We are finding so many new and varied ways to be in Global Community, it is an exciting adventure and we are glad that you have chosen to make the journey with us. As we are 'gathered and scattered' around the globe, 'communities' help us to be in touch with those of like interests and like precious faith.

Just to give you some idea of how large and small the globe can be, we recently visited viewers in Washington D.C. We met for lunch and fellowship and toured the equestrian unit at the Caisson Barn at Arlington, Cemetery. In the same time frame we received 59 new Global Members from Nairobi, Kenya, Africa. What an amazing and wonderful time we live in, that we can share our lives and journey of faith in so many different ways and places.
